Whenever you purchase a new Linksys router, you set “admin” as the default username and password. But anybody can hack this password as this is a very easy password. You need to reset the default password for security purposes. So, in this blog, we will show you how to reset the Linksys Router Default Username and Password. Linksys routers have an in-built web-based setup page that you can use to customize or change the settings of the router. Before accessing the setup page, make sure that your router is turned on and connected to the computer through an ethernet cable.

Steps to reset the Linksys router default username and password
Go through the below steps to reset the default username and password of the Linksys router:
Step 1: First of all, turn on your Linksys router and connect to the computer through an ethernet cable.
Step 2: Make sure that the LED light on the router is on.
Step 3: Now, launch a web browser and go to the Linksys web setup page. 
Step 4: Then, enter the default username and password of the Linksys router and click on the ok button. You can refer to the user manual to check the default username and password or you can find the default username and password on the backside of the router.
Step 5: After that, click on the administration tab and then click on the management tab.
Step 6: Next, enter the new password in the password field and then re-enter the same password for confirmation. If you want to change the username then enter the new username in the username field.
Step 7: Finally, click on the save button to save the new password. Now, you can use the new password on all the computers that are connected to the Linksys router.

Steps to reset the Linksys router default username and password on Mac
If you are using Mac operating system then follow the below steps to reset the default username and password of the Linksys router:
Step 1: Firstly, connect your Mac device to the Linksys router through an ethernet cable.
Step 2: Now, launch a web browser on your device and go to the Linksys web setup page. If you are unable to access the web page on Safari web browser then switch to another web browser.
Step 3: Then, enter the default username and password in the required field and click on the ok button.
Step 4: Next, select the administration tab and then enter the new password twice for confirmation, followed by, click on the save settings button. After that, click on the factory default option.
Step 5: Thereafter, click on the “restore factory defaults” tab. Once the factory default has been restored, proceed with SSID configuration, security type, and password settings.
